Norman AV is no longer being updated

 

Product: ModusMail & ModusGate, AV & ASV Versions

Version & Build: 4.35.480

 

 

Problem:

 

If Modus is reinstalled or moved to a directory that differs from that of the original installation, Norman AV features in Modus may cease to function. 

 

or

 

In environments using Norman Virus Control:

 

If Norman VC is reinstalled, Modus will not recognize the reinstall and the Norman AV features in Modus will cease to function.

 

 

 

Solution:

 

 

If Modus was reinstalled or moved:

 

  • Go to the Registry Editor
    • Start – Run > regedit
    • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Norman Data Defense Systems
      • At RootPath, ensure that the directory is set properly
        • E.g. …\Program Files\Vircom\ModusMail
    • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Vircom\Vopmail
      • If the value VsOwnNorman exists, delete it
  • Stop/Start the MODUSADM service

 

 

If Norman VC was reinstalled:

  • Go to the Registry Editor
    • Start – Run > regedit
    • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Norman Data Defense Systems
      • If the value RootPath exists, delete it
    • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Vircom\Vopmail
      • If the value VsOwnNorman exists, delete it
  • Reinstall ModusMail
