Product: ModusMail
Version & Build: All
Problem:
In an effort to prevent spam, Web-based email providers (such as Yahoo.com) terminate the connection from the sending server instead of returning a bounced message. Occasionally, mail intended for recipients using this web-based email service can build up in the ...\Vircom\Modusmail\Spool\Holding and the …\Vircom\Modusmail\Spool\Domains\<yahoo.com> folders. Deleting the files for the first message from the …\Domains\<yahoo.com> folder only temporarily fixes the problem.
Solution:
A permanent solution is to identify the domains to which ModusMail is having problems delivering mail. ModusMail would skip messages it cannot deliver for the particular domain instead of allowing messages to build up. It would also retry to deliver the problems messages for the number of retries configured in ModusMail.
- From the ModusMail Console, go to System – Properties – Mail Delivery
- At Force automatic retry for these domains, click on Domain List
- Click on Add
- Enter the name of the domain (e.g. yahoo.com)
- The default retry count is 50 but you may change this
- Click on OK and then Close
- Click on Apply
