Hardware & OS System Requirements

Product: All

Version & Build: v4.5 and above

The following documents provide the minimum system requirements for modusMail™ and modusGate™.

How many simultaneous connections can modus™ handle?

This depends entirely on your particular hardware, operating system and configuration.

The SMTPRS service is designed to process as many incoming connections on as many sockets that the OS can open.  However, because of TCP/IP protocol limitations, you cannot open more than 65,535 sockets per IP address.  In addition, each active connection consumes pproximately 10K of physical memory but we have seen SMTPRS handle more than 21,000 connections.

How many messages, per second, can modus™ handle?

This number ranges between 8 and 40 messages per second, depending on the number of processors, their speed, the speed of additional servers on your network (e.g. database server) and your modus™ configuration (security settings, scan options, custom filters, etc.).
