Problem:
Clients using Macintosh Outlook Express 5.0.6 cannot send mail when using SMTP Authentication.
Cause:
The problem is the result of a conflict with the NTLM authentication method.
Solution:
- Stop the SMTPRS service
- In Windows Explorer, go to the …\Vircom\Modus<Mail or Gate> folder and rename or delete the MSSPIAUTH.dll file
- Start the SMTPRS service
Deleting or renaming this file forces Outlook Express to try the next method of user authentication which is [CRAM-MD5].
Note: This file must be deleted or renamed after every re-installation or upgrade.
